The Benson Polytechnic High School’s Radio Broadcasting station, AM 1450 KBPS, celebrated its 100th Year Centennial Anniversary on March 23rd, 2023. The project required my involvement regarding organization including luncheon and dinner banquet preparation; merchandise ordering and handling; communication with student volunteers; marketing of the event; drafting a proclamation to receive recognition from the City of Portland; and more.
After reaching out to the City of Portland, I drafted a proclamation for the station’s celebration and received few edits from the current Benson Radio Instructor, Jacob Dean Patterson. Through my broadcasting skills and the equipment I possess, I was able to record the proclamation and edit the audio and video using Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Audition. The 100th Year Celebration luncheon and dinner banquet required a brochure that showed scheduled events including speeches, performances, lunch, dinner, and ‘special thank yous.’ Using Adobe InDesign, I was able to successfully and effectively create a two-sided letter-sized brochure for attendees without incurring out-of-organization costs.
The total time that I worked to volunteer for this celebration is over 500 hours.
